DR. ANSBERT GDICKE is President and Chairman of the MPM Group and a
General Partner of the BioVentures funds. Dr. Gdicke founded the MPM
Group in 1992. He led MPM’s effort to build its Advisory and Investment
Banking business from 1992 to 1996 and started its Asset Management
business in 1996. Prior to founding MPM in 1992, Dr. Gdicke was
employed by The Boston Consulting Group where he worked with management
of pharmaceutical, biotechnology and health insurance companies. Dr.
Gdicke received an MD from J.W. Goethe University in Frankfurt. He
subsequently held research positions at the Whitehead Institute at MIT,
Harvard University and the German Cancer Research Center. He has
published numerous articles in leading scientific publications including
Nature and Cell. Dr. Gdicke is a Director of BioMarin Pharmaceuticals,
Double Twist, Endeavor Pharmaceuticals, Genteric, Novirio
Pharmaceuticals, Pharmasset, Omrix Biopharmaceuticals, TransForm and
ViaCell. He is also a member of Advisory Councils for Harvard Medical
School, the Health Science and Technology Program of Harvard University
and MIT, as well as the Whitehead Institute at MIT.
