Donald L. Ciffone

DONALD L. CIFFONE, JR. has been President and Chief Executive Officer of
Exar Corporation since his election by the Board of Directors in October
1996. Mr. Ciffone is an experienced executive in the semiconductor
industry in California’s Silicon Valley. Previously, Mr. Ciffone was
Executive Vice President of Toshiba America, located in Milpitas,
California, the U.S. semiconductor subsidiary of Toshiba. Before that,
he was Senior Vice President of the VLSI Products Division at VLSI
Technology, of San Jose, California. Prior to that, he spent over 13
years in a variety of marketing and operations positions at National
Semiconductor. Mr. Ciffone holds a BA degree from San Jose State
University in San Jose, California, and an MBA from the University of
Santa Clara, in Santa Clara, California.
