CHRISTOPHER HARTLEY was born in 1968 in England and is now married with three children, working in Geneva, while living across the border in France. Christopher is a graduate from London University, where he obtained his Bachelors’ degree in French and German before going on to Manchester University, where he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management. He has more recently obtained an MBA from Reims University.
Christopher started his career in 1991 as a management trainee for Forte, working in Milan, Paris, New York and London in various luxury hotels. He quickly moved into Marketing when in 1993, he moved to Forte’s head office in London to become responsible for marketing communications for Forte’s Exclusive Hotels.
Christopher moved to Kempinski in 1996, where he started as Director of Marketing, re-branding the group and developing new product concepts as Kempinski expanded and branched into the resort segment. In 1999, Christopher was promoted to the group’s executive committee, becoming Vice President Marketing; and in 2001, he became Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing and is today responsible for a corporate team of nearly fifty people in offices in twelve locations. Chris is also spokesperson for the Kempinski group and a member of the Leading Hotels of the World’s international marketing committee, representing Kempinski’s fourteen member hotels.
