CHRISTIAN KAUTER attended the High School Kirchenfeld from 1963 to 1966,
in Bern. He then went on to study at the University of Geneva, and the
Law and Economics faculty of the University of Bern. He received a
Masters degree in economics and business administration. In 1969, he was
an intern for six month at Wander AG. In 1975, he became Assistant to
the manager of a Swiss publishing agency in Bern, and in 1976 became the
Manager of Swissgraphic, a division of the Swiss publishing agency. In
1977, he worked in the Swiss foreign office as first secretary to the
ambassador in Washington DC. In 1984, back in Bern, he continued working
for the Swiss foreign office, this time dealing with World Trade (GATT).
In 1987, Mr. Kauter moved to private economics and became a PR advisor
at Schindler, focussing on politics, economics and leisure. That same
year, he was voted general secretary of FDP, the political leading Party
in Switzerland. From the 1st of July 1997, he has been working as
designated CEO for Soc Generale D’Affichage. His hobbies include fencing
and since 1989 has been president of the Worldcup Tournament of Fencing.
He is married with three children.
