Andrew M. Sims

Andrew M. Sims is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the board of MHI Hospitality Corporation. He has served as President of MHI Hotels Services since 1995, after serving for seven years as Vice President of finance and development during which he was instrumental in the purchase and renovation of several properties that drove the growth of MHI Hotels Services. Among the acquisitions Mr. Sims helped negotiate are the Hilton Wilmington Riverside and the Shell Island Resort in Wrightsville Beach, N.C. His association with MHI Hotels Services continues a tradition of family management, which began with his father, Edgar Sims Jr., who founded MHI Hotels Services as Maryland Hospitality Inc. in 1957. Andrew Sims began his career as Sales Associate for Merrill Lynch Commercial Realty, moving to MHI as General Manager of the Interstate Inn in College Park, Md. He managed the $2 million renovation of the property and its reopening under the Best Western franchise. After five years at the hotel, Mr. Sims was promoted to Regional VP and oversaw MHI’s expansion into the Southwest where the company acquired six new properties. He is a graduate of Washington and Lee University, and serves on the franchise advisory board for Hilton Hotels and serves as a Director for MHI Hotels Services.
