Alun Cathcart

ALUN CATHCART is Chairman and Chief Executive of Avis Europe plc. He has
led the Avis Group since 1983 when he was appointed Group Managing
Director and Chief Executive. He joined Avis Europe in 1980 having spent
14 years in executive positions in the transportation industry. Mr.
Cathcart has led, uniquely, the company through two successful
flotations in 1986 and again in 1997. Under his leadership, the Company
has become a highly effective organisation demonstrating sustained
market leadership and profitability. In addition to his Avis Europe
responsibilities, Mr. Cathcart is a non-executive Director of Avis Rent
A Car, Inc, non-executive Deputy Chairman of National Express Group plc
and non-executive Chairman of Selfridges plc.
