ALBERT LUDERER has been Director, President and Chief Executive Officer
of Light Sciences Corporation since 2001. Prior to joining Light
Sciences, he was President, Chief Operating Officer and a member of the
global executive committee of bioMerieux, Inc. As COO at bioMerieux, he
managed financial aspects for North America, manufacturing R&D for
microbiological and immunoassay instrument systems, sales and marketing,
and FDA regulatory and quality systems. He was also responsible for
intellectual property, finance, legal and human resources while serving
in several positions at bioMerieux. Prior to this, he was Vice
President, Business and Technology Development at Dianon Systems. At
Dianon Systems, he restructured the core reference laboratory business,
and helped establish organ-based pathology services. Dr. Luderer is
credited with the discovery and establishment of fPSA as a standard of
care diagnostic. From 1987 to 1993, Dr. Luderer held the title of Vice
President, Technology Development at Boehringer Mannheim Corporation
(now Roche). He worked at Corning, Inc., in the Health and Science group
for 10 years where he played a key role in negotiating the joint venture
company, Ciba Corning, now part of Bayer. Dr. Luderer invented the
lymphoctye separator system that was licensed to Becton Dickinson. He
received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Drew University, and his MS
and PhD from Rutgers University, where he was a National Science
Foundation predoctoral fellow. Dr. Luderer is a member of the following
Scientific Advisory Boards: Washington University, Micronics, Quantech,
Inc., and Diagnostic Oncology CRO, Inc.
