AARON JAMES DEER is a Managing Director and Equity Research Analyst in San Francisco, specializing in West Coast financial institutions. Prior to joining Sandler O’Neill + Partners, L.P., Mr. Deer worked for RBC Capital Markets providing research coverage for a variety of small-, mid- and large-cap banks and thrifts throughout the West. Before that, he supervised research and valuation teams for McGladrey Capital Markets, an international investment bank specializing in middle-market mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Deer has also worked with business and political leaders from around the world as a Communications and Strategy Adviser in Washington and Paris. He is quoted frequently in news media on banking issues and the economy. Mr. Deer holds an MBA with a concentration in banking and finance and an M.A. in international affairs with a concentration in trade and investment policy from The George Washington University. He holds a BBA in economics from the University of North Dakota.
