B. SCOTT SMITH is the President and COO of Sonic Automotive. Bryan Scott
Smith has been the President and COO of Sonic since April 1997 and a
Sonic Director since its organization in 1997. Mr. Smith also serves as
a Director and Executive Officer of all of Sonic's subsidiaries. After
his appointment to President and COO of Sonic, Mr. Smith concentrated a
majority of his efforts on growth, operations, and manufacturing
relations. Mr. Smith put together what he calls 'the best team of
automotive specialists, customer service professionals, and financial
experts in the automotive industry. Wall Street agreed. In 1998, Sonic
