DR RICHARD PALMER is the Chief Executive Officer of Alizyme Plc. He
joined Alizyme, a 'virtual' biopharmaceutical company listed on AIM, as
Chief Operating Officer in September 1996, was appointed Chief Executive
Officer in March 1997 and also retains the responsibility as Director of
R & D. Dr Palmer has held various positions in research and development
management in Wellcome and Glaxo Wellcome. He spent approximately 20
years in research in Wellcome, establishing an international reputation
for his work with Dr Salvador Moncada on the discovery and role of
nitric oxide in physiology and pathophysiology. In 1992, he moved into
development management as International Project Manager responsible for
Wellcome's portfolio of biotechnology projects, before becoming Director
of International Oncology Planning in Glaxo Wellcome. Dr Palmer
obtained his BSc in Applied Biology from the University of Bath and a
PhD in Pharmacology from University College, London. Profile
