Charles Winston has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of
GSI Lumonics since March 1999 and as Chief Executive Officer since
November 1999. He previously served as President and Chief Executive
Officer of General Scanning Inc. commencing in September 1988. Mr.
Winston served as a Director of General Scanning from 1989 until the
merger. Prior to joining the company, from 1986 to 1988, Mr. Winston
served as a management consultant, conducted leveraged buy-out
evaluations and was Acting Chief Executive Officer for Rise Technology
Inc. In 1986, Mr. Winston was an officer of Savin Corporation. From
1981 to 1985, he served as a Senior Vice President of Federal Express

Mr. Winston: GSI Lumonics Company was formed just a year ago, last March
of 1999, through the merger of two companies. Both companies
