J.H. PYNE holds a degree in Liberal Arts from the University of North
Carolina and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of
Kirby Corporation since April 1995. He has served Kirby Corporation as a
Director since 1988. He served as Executive Vice President of Kirby
Corporation from 1992 to April 1995 and as President of Kirby Inland
Marine from 1984 to November 1999. He also served in various operating
and administrative capacities with Kirby Inland Marine from 1978 to
1984, including Executive Vice President, from January to June 1984.
Prior to joining Kirby Corporation, he was employed by Northrop
Services, Inc. and served as an officer in the United States Navy. Profile
C. BERDON LAWRENCE holds an MBA and a BBA in Business Administration
from Tulane University. He has served Kirby Corporation as Chairman of
the Board since October 1999. Prior to joining Kirby Corporation in
October 1999, he served for 30 years as President of Hollywood, an
inland tank barge company of which he was the founder and principal
shareholder and which was acquired by Kirby Corporation on October 12,
