Jack D. Hidary – Earthweb Inc (ewbx)

JACK D. HIDARY, has served as President and CEO of EarthWeb Inc. since 1994. Mr. Hidary and his co-founders formed a bold vision to reshape the information technology (IT) industry by providing a unique set of targeted, online services: content, community, career management and commerce. Under Mr. Hidary's leadership of EarthWeb, the company has accomplished an impressive record of achievements. It secured two rounds of funding from Warburg Pincus Ventures, completed a record-breaking initial public offering and closed a secondary public offering. The company recruited a world-class management team, acquired over 10 IT- related companies, expanded services internationally and achieved record revenues. As a result, EarthWeb has become the leading provider of business-to-business online services to the global IT industry. Today, Mr. Hidary's responsibilities as EarthWeb's President and CEO include developing the company's strategic vision and leadership as well as managing the company's executive team worldwide. Under his stewardship, EarthWeb has earned the prestigious Business Week Info Tech 100 award, and was named the third fastest growing IT Company in the Info Tech 100. Mr. Hidary's Internet experience began while he studied at Columbia University. There he helped develop ColumbiaNet one of the first campus information services to use the Internet. Mr. Hidary was then awarded a Stanley Fellowship in Clinical Neuroscience at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). There he conducted brain imaging research projects involving Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET). This research leveraged Internet technologies for collaboration and in the creation of online brain image databases. Later, Mr. Hidary conceived and led ReliefNet, one of the first non- profit websites providing disaster relief support through the Internet. Mr. Hidary has received several industry and community awards including the Einstein Technology Medal from Israel's High-Tech Mission and New York Magazine's 'New York Cyber Sixty.' He is also a frequent keynote and guest speaker. He has presented at the Smithsonian, SIIA, Red Herring, SIGS Java and Bear Stearns Internet Conferences. In addition, Mr. Hidary has been a guest lecturer at such Business Schools as Harvard and Columbia. Mr. Hidary is also committed to community and philanthropic causes. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors at TrickleUp, an international nonprofit organization that helps low- income people start small businesses to help themselves out of poverty.
