ROBERT L. LECLERC has been Chairman and CEO of Echo Bay Mines Ltd. since
April 1997, and prior to that (since July 1996) was Chairman. Before
joining Echo Bay he practiced law in Montreal (1968-1978) and in
Edmonton, Alberta (1978-1996). His last position was as Chairman and CEO
of, and partner in, the Canadian law firm Milner Fenerty (now Frasier
Milner, with 375 lawyers in six Canadian cities). Mr. Leclerc's
Education background includes: Honors B.A., Universite' de Montr_al
(graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1965) and a Baccalaureate in Civil Law,
McGill University (graduated with great distinction in 1968 and was
awarded the Gold Medal by the Faculty of Law). He received a
Commemorative Medal for the 125th anniversary of Canadian confederation,
conferred in 1992 and was awarded the Gold Medal by the Faculty of Law.
He also received the Queen's Counsel recognition (a discretionary
designation, bestowed on lawyers based on professional experience
including the person's standing among his peers; contributions to
