Lawrence E. Gloyd – Clarcor Inc (clc)

LAWRENCE E. GLOYD is the Chairman of the Board & Chief Executive Officer of CLARCOR, Inc. He earned his B.A. from Hanover College, Hanover, Indiana in 1954, having majored in business administration and economics. Following service in the U.S. Army as an intelligence analyst, he was employed by the Shapleigh Hardware Company, St. Louis, MO, as a territory salesman from 1956-1960. He then worked for the W. Bingham Company of Cleveland, Ohio in the same capacity from 1960-61. In 1961 Mr. Gloyd was hired by the Amerock Corporation of Rockford, IL as a territory salesman. In 1968 he was appointed Regional Sales Manager; Director-Consumer Products Marketing in 1969; Director-Merchandising in 1971; Director-Marketing & Sales in 1972; Vice President-Marketing & Sales in 1973; Executive Vice President in 1981; President & General Manager in 1982; and Vice President, Hardware Products Group-Anchor Hocking Corporation in 1983. In 1986 Mr. Gloyd joined J.L. Clark Manufacturing Co., where he had been a member of the Board of Directors since 1984, as President & Chief Operating Officer. Following a restructuring in 1988, the company became known as CLARCOR and Mr. Gloyd was appointed President & Chief Executive Officer of the reorganized corporation. In 1991 he was appointed Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Gloyd is an active member in Rockford civic and community affairs, including membership in the SwedishAmerican Hospital and SwedishAmerican Health Systems (Past Chairman - Board of Trustees); Illinois Council on Economic Education (Board of Directors); Rockford College (Past Chairman- Board of Trustees); Rockford YMCA Partners with Youth (Capital Campaign Chair); United Way of Rockford (Campaign Chair & President); and Elder - Westminster Presbyterian Church. Former member of: Executive Council, Blackhawk Area Council - Boy Scouts of America; Council of 100 (Economic Development Organization - Past Chairman) and Big Brothers/Big Sisters (National Board of Directors). Corporate Board memberships include AMCORE Financial, Inc., Rockford, IL; Thomas Industries, Inc., Louisville, KY; Genlyte Thomas Group LLC, Louisville, KY; Group Dekko, Kendallville, IN; Woodward Governor Company, Rockford, IL., and other private companies, as well as Chairman of the CLARCOR Board of Directors. Other business association memberships include the Board of Trustees - Manufacturers Alliance, American Hardware Manufacturers Association, Hardware Group Association (Past President), Illinois Manufacturers Association, National Association of Manufacturers, The Presidents Association, Past President-Young Executives Club (A.H.M.A.), and Past President - Hardware Marketing Council. Recognition's include listings in Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in Industry & Finance; Who's Who in America; Who's Who in the World; Doctor of Business Administration, Honoris Causa-Rockford College, 1994; Alumni Achievement Award for Professional Accomplishment- Hanover College, 1994; Finalist Entrepreneur of the Year, 1995 and 1998; NSFRE Fund Raiser of the Year, 1995; Silver Medal Award, Financial World's CEO of the Year, 1996. Recipient of the Excalibur Award which is given annually in Rockford, IL to an individual who has given exemplary community service, December, 1996. Recipient of the Master Entrepreneur of the Year' for Illinois/Northwest Indiana awarded by Ernst & Young, June, 1999. Received the Order of Achievement award by the International Board of Directors of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, August, 1999.
