Pauline Gee – Xenometrix Inc (xeno)

PAULINE GEE was appointed President and Chief Scientific Officer of Xenometrix, Inc. in February 1999 and brings to the position a deep understanding of the technology, hands-on experience in the company's operations and a fresh approach to financial management of the business. Dr. Gee joined Xenometrix in January 1994 as Associate Lab Director, and was promoted quickly to Director of Research and Development in May 1994. She became Vice President of Research and Development in July 1995. Before coming to Xenometrix, Dr. Gee was a research scientist as a Biochemistry Specialist in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. Her work at Berkeley culminated in a patented set of bacterial strains that are licensed exclusively to Xenometrix. These proprietary strains form the basis of the Ames II family of products and services that measure the mutagenic potential of compounds offered by Xenometrix. In her position as a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Biological Sciences at Stanford University from1987 to 1989, Dr. Gee demonstrated for the first time that the DNA in differentiated neuronal cells is repaired after damage. From 1985 to 1987, she served as a Canadian Medical Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow in the Biochemistry Department at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Gee received graduate training in Neurobiology and Free Radical Chemistry from Simon Fraser University, BC Canada and was granted a Ph.D. in 1984 and a B.Sc. in Marine Biology and Human Physiology in 1978. Dr. Gee is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Biomed Diagnostics.
