ALAN SINCLAIR is an Oil and Gas Analyst at Charterhouse Securities. A
Business Graduate, he started his career as a trainee with Conoco in
1979. He then joined Wood Mackenzie, where he spent a number of years
as an oil industry consultant, before moving into stock research in
1987. Since then, he has worked both for Smith New Court (now Merrill
Lynch)j and BZW (now Credit Suisse First Boston). He also spent time as
a commercial analyst in the exploration and production division of
