Joseph H. Netherland Jr. – Fmc Corporation (fmc)

JOSEPH H. NETHERLAND, JR., was elected President of FMC Corporation and elected to its board of directors in June, 1999. He is responsible for the company's Energy Systems, Food and Transportation Systems, and Specialty Chemicals groups, as well as FMC Foret, chemical technology and shared services, corporate information technology and worldwide marketing. He served as Executive Vice President of FMC Corporation since July, 1998. He has been a Vice President of the corporation since April, 1987. Mr. Netherland joined FMC in 1973 as a business planner for the Machinery Group. After becoming the acting manager, planning department, of that group in 1974, he went on to hold various positions in the Defense Equipment Group. In 1978, he was named operations manager, Ordnance Division, in charge of the production start-up of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. He moved to FMC's former Petroleum Equipment Group in 1983 as manager, Fluid Control Division, and became manager, Wellhead Division in 1984. In December, 1985 he was appointed general manager of Petroleum Equipment Group. In April, 1989, he also assumed responsibility for the company's former Specialized Machinery Group. He was appointed general manager of FMC's Energy and Transportation Equipment Group in 1992, when the company consolidated its commercial machinery businesses into two groups. Prior to joining FMC, he worked a an industrial engineer for E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. From 1969 to 1972, he served as an officer with the U.S. Coast Guard. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Finance. Mr. Netherland is past Chairman and current board member of the Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association. He serves on the Board of Directors of the American Petroleum Institute and the National Ocean Industries Association.
