Liam P. Healy – Independent News & Media Plc

LIAM P. HEALY is Chief Executive of Independent News & Media PLC. Mr. Healy was born in Dublin in 1929. He attended St. Nathy's college, Ballaghadereen, Co. Roscommon. He was articled to Chartered Accountants Kinnear & Co. and qualified in 1956. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. In 1977, Mr. Healy attended the Advanced Management Programme at the Harvard Business School in Boston. Prior to joining Independent Newspapers in 1963, Mr. Healy worked for a period with Roadstone (now CRH). In 1971, Mr. Healy was promoted to Finance Director. Two years as Managing Director of Independent Newspapers Dublin operations from 1979 were followed by his appointment as Managing Director-International in 1981. Mr. Healy was Acting Chief Executive of Australian Provincial Newspapers for one year following its acquisition in 1988. In 1990, he was appointed Group Chief Executive. Mr. Healy is Chairman of Independent Newspapers (UK) Limited, Independent Newspapers Holdings Limited (South Africa) and APN News & Media Limited (Australia). Mr. Healy lives in Co. Dublin, is married to Eithne (nee Corrigan) they have three children, two daughters and one son. Mr. Healy is a member of the United Services Club and the Royal Irish Yacht Club. Profile
