Joseph Lamar Lanier Jr. – Dan River Inc

JOSEPH LAMAR LANIER, JR., is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dan River, Inc. Prior to joining Dan River, he was President of Georgia Textile Manufacturers Association. He has been a Director of that company as well as of American Textile Manufacturers Institute, Textile Hall Corporation and Virginia Manufacturers Association. His other affiliations include: Trustee, Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University; Trustee, J.E. Sirrine Textile Foundation, Inc., Textile Hall Corporation; member of the Boards of Directors, Sun Trust Bank of Georgia, Sun Trust Banks, Inc., Flowers Industries, Inc., Torchmark Corporation, DIMON Incorporated and Waddell Reed Financial, Inc. Mr. Lanier graduated from Washington and Lee University with a B.S. degree in Commerce in 1954 and attended Harvard Graduate School of Business in 1955. In 1987, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science degree by Auburn university, the same year he was inducted into the Alabama Academy of Honor. In 1988 he was awarded New York Board of Trade's 'Man of the Year' Award. Mr. Lanier lives in Alabama with his wife, Ann. They have two children.
