KURT WIEDENHAUPT, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer,
joined American Precision Industries (API) in mid-1992. He was appointed
Chairman of the Board on April 25, 1997. Before joining API, Mr.
Wiedenhaupt spent 32 years at AEG, A.G., a leading worldwide
manufacturer of electric and electronic products and systems and
subsidiary of Daimler Benz. From 1986 to 1992, he was President and
Chief Executive Officer of AEG's North American Operations. During his
tenure, AEG's business grew from $100 million to $1 billion over a 6-
year period. Mr. Wiedenhaupt's experience includes a wide range of
international business development. He started his career in the export
division of AEG in Germany and co-founded AEG's first U.S. operations
from 1967 to 1973. During that time he headed its mass transit and
industrial equipment and systems business. In the United Kingdom from
1973 to 1986, Mr. Wiedenhaupt was a member of the Board responsible for
the Technical Business, including sales, engineering and production. He
returned to the U.S. in 1986 to develop AEG's business in North America.
Kurt studied electrical engineering in Berlin. He is a member of the
Board of Directors for Merchants Mutual, Marine Midland Bank, Eastman
Machine and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also been a
keynote speaker at industrial automation conferences and seminars. Profile
