Philip Gould – Cortecs Plc (ccs.l)

PHILIP GOULD left Hull University in1978 with a Ph.D. in chemical kinetics and went to work in physical sciences in the Pharmaceutical Division of Reckitt and Colman. In 1980, he joined Pfizer central Research in Sandwich, U.K. to work in pharmaceutical development as a principal research scientist. In 1985 he then joined American Cynamid Medical Research Division in the U.K. as Senior Manager in Pharmaceutical Development, leaving in 1988 to join Glaxo (now GlaxoWellcome) initially as Head of the Pharmaceutical Development and more recently as head of New Product Introduction and Product Technology for GW U.K. In early 1998, he took up the role of executive director of R&D for Cortecs International, an emerging mid-size Biopharmaceutical company. In December of the same year, Dr. Gould was appointed acting Chief Executive Officer of Cortecs Plc, this position being confirmed on January 28, 1999. He is the author of approximately 50 publications, is the holder of a number of patents on novel drug delivery systems and is also an Honorary Professor of Health Sciences. Profile
