ROBERT B. CHESS, Co-CEO, who joined Inhale Therapeutic Systems in 1992,
brought more than 15 years of entrepreneurial and leadership experience
from a variety of businesses. Mr. Chess was previously the Co-founder
and President of Penederm, Inc., a dermatologic pharmaceutical company
focused on improved topical delivery. He has held management positions
at Intel Corporation and Metaphor Computer Systems (now part of IBM),
and served as a member of President Bush's White House staff. Mr. Chess
received his B.S. degree in Engineering from the California Institute of
