PHILIP S. PAYNE is the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief
Financial Officer of BNP Residential Properties, Inc., a publicly traded
REIT. Mr. Payne received a BS degree from the College of William and
Mary in 1973 and a JD degree in 1978 from the same institution. He is a
member of the Virginia State Bar Association (Attorney - licensed in
Virginia), the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts,
the National Multi-Housing Council (Board of Directors), the Urban Land
Institute and the Urban Land Institute's Multi-family Council (Gold). He
also serves on the Board of Directors of Ashford Hospitality Trust and
serves as Chairman of its Audit Committee. He has written for several
professional publications including the Urban Land Institute's
Multifamily Housing Development Handbook (primary contributing author)
and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts' The REIT
Report. From 1998 through 2000, he served on the Board of Editors of
Real Estate Portfolio Magazine (NAREIT). Profile
