JAMES F. HALPIN, President and CEO of CompUSA, Inc., has been a retailer
for more than 20 years. He joined CompUSA as president and COO in May
1993, becoming CEO in December 1993. Previously, he has been president of
HomeBase (1991-1992), president of BJ's Wholesale Club (1988-1990),
executive vice president of Waban, Inc. (1990-1992), and vice president
and senior merchandising manager of Zayre Corp. (1984-1988). Mr. Haplin
serves on the boards of Lowe's Companies, Inc., Intephase Corporation,
and Marvel Enterprises, Inc. He is also on the governing board of Junior
Achievement in Dallas, Texas and raises funds for the Cardinal Cushing
