Louis J. Lavigne Jr. – Genentech Inc (gne)

LOUIS J. LAVIGNE, JR., was named Executive Vice President in March of 1997. He joined Genentech, Inc. in July 1982 and was named controller in 1983 and, as such, built Genentech's operating financial functions. In 1986, he was promoted to Vice President and assumed the CFO position in September 1988. He was named Senior Vice President in July 1994. Lavigne is a member of Genentech's Executive Committee and its Contributions Committee. Lavigne is responsible for Genentech's corporate communications, treasury, controller's, information systems, insurance, investor relations, tax, planning, and purchasing functions. Prior to joining Genentech, Lavigne held various financial management positions with Pennwalt Corporation, a chemical and pharmaceutical company. Lavigne earned a bachelor's of science degree in business administration from Babson College in 1969 and a master's in business administration from Temple University in 1976.
