JIM MELVIN – MAZU NETWORKS

JIM MELVIN is President & CEO of Mazu Networks with more than 15 years of technology industry experience, Jim brings to Mazu an exceptional track record of capitalizing on significant market opportunities. He has developed and managed successful product and marketing strategies at companies ranging from small start-ups to large, publicly held firms. Jim works with Mazu's board to steer the company's strategic direction while overseeing all aspects of its day-to-day operations. Prior to joining Mazu, Jim served as vice president of marketing at SightPath, a developer of appliances for creating intelligent content delivery networks (CDNs). In that position, Jim was a driving force behind the creation of the CDN market and, through that work, played a key role in securing the acquisition of SightPath by Cisco for $800 million in 2000. Post-acquisition, Jim served as the director of marketing for Cisco's content networking business unit. Previously, Jim served for four years as director of marketing for Avid Technology's professional line of film and video editing products. These included Avid's flagship Media Composer product line, and Avid Xpress, the company's digital non-linear systems. Under Jim's guidance, the Xpress product line grew to a $60 million business in its first year of operation. Prior to his Avid experience, Jim held a series of marketing and product management positions with increasing levels of responsibility at Digital Equipment Corporation. He holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering, and an M.S. in Management, both from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He was also awarded three U.S. patents in Fault Tolerant systems design. Profile
