Jeffrey H. Barker is Executive Vice President and Regional Market
Manager for Retail Banking at Fleet Bank. In this position, Mr. Barker
is responsible for overseeing 345 branches and 505 ATMs in New York
State and Southern Connecticut. Mr. Barker joined the Bank in September
1995. As a seasoned retail veteran, prior to banking he worked at Barnes
and Noble, Inc., as the Eastern Regional Director of Stores where he was
responsible for merchandising, operations and marketing of 130 stores in
18 states. Previously, Mr. Barker was Vice President of Stores at Silo,
Inc., a Philadelphia-based nationwide appliance and consumer electronics
retailer. Mr. Barker received his BA in Government from Cornell
University in 1975 and his MBA in Marketing and Management from the
Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania in 1977. He
is actively involved in several charities. He is also an active member
of Cornell's Alumni Association and is a past VP of Temple Shaaray
Tefila in Bedford, New York. Besides being on the Board of Directors at
the Institute for Student Achievement (ISA), he is also Vice Chairman of
the Retail Banking Division for NYBA and serves on the Board of
Directors. As Regional Manager for New York State, he has been
instrumental in the bank's charitable giving, sponsorships and employee
volunteer program. In fact, with his support the bank donated over $4
million dollars in 2002 to community-based organizations in the metro
