Anthony Simon Malone - was born in Johannesburg. He attended King Edward School in Parktown and thereafter Wits University where he obtained a degree in Mining Engineering. He started working at JCI Head Office and then moved to Western Areas gold mine. During this time he obtained a business degree. In 1969 Simon went to work for Chapman Wood and Griswold in Vancouver, Canada, returning to South Africa where, after some time with King Resources and Rand London, he started Metorex with the four other founding shareholders in 1975. Simon is married to Iona and has a son, Ian, who attends the University of Cape Town, and a daughter, Kirsty, who works at Investec, having already completed a BA degree. Besides his family, and Metorex, Simons loves are squash and good food and wine. He was Chairman of the Squash Racquets Association of South Africa, and still has a continuing interest in squash particularly doubles. Profile
