Mark Rowse established Ingenta in May 1998 as a business focused on the online distribution of journal and reference material to librarians and researchers worldwide. Ingenta has grown rapidly since its establishment; the number of employees has risen from 25 to 130 and the number of journals available online has increased from 400 to 6,000 with a further 20,000 publications available for fax and Ariel delivery. Ingenta now has over 60% of its business in the US and works with nine of the top ten scientific, technical and medical research-based publishers. Ingenta is now listed on the London Stock Exchange.
Mark was formerly a director of Spafax, a subsidiary of Aspen Group plc, managing revenues of some $100 million. At Spafax he was responsible for identifying and developing the potential of in-flight entertainment and supplying media to over 40 major airlines, including British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
