HUNTER HOLLAR was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Sandy
Spring National Bank of Maryland in 1990. He assumed the Chief Executive
Officer title and responsibilities on January 1, 1994, of what is now
Sandy Spring Bank. Mr. Hollar is a native of Virginia's Shenandoah
Valley. He earned a BS degree from the University of Virginia and an MBA
degree from James Madison University. He has also completed postgraduate
work at the Virginia Bankers Association School of Bank Management.
Prior to joining Sandy Spring, Mr. Hollar served in senior management
capacities at Dominion Bankshares (now First Union) and its predecessor
banks. He is active in numerous professional and civic organizations in
the region. He is serving as the Chairman of the Maryland Bankers
Association. He is a graduate of Leadership Montgomery, a program
designed to inform and develop local leaders. In April 2002, he and his
family joined other community leaders and families and traveled to
Jamaica to participate in a program that builds houses for the poor. Profile
