Mark Effinger – Telcordia Technologies Inc

MARK J. EFFINGER is Corporate Vice President ' Global Engineering at Telcordia Technologies, Inc. In his current role, Mr. Effinger is responsible for customer solutions and technology that Telcordia designs, develops, and delivers to communications service providers, across all markets including fixed/wireline telephone, mobility/wireless, cable TV, and data/internet service providers. He manages a senior team of solutions engineers who are dedicated to the largest carriers around the world, and also a team of bid managers responsible for preparing proposals and offers. Previously, Mr. Effinger was the Telcordia Chief OSS Architect responsible for global technical sales and marketing of Operations Support Systems (OSS) solutions. His team won significant contracts, including the industry's first Voice- over-IP OSS contract with strategic partner, Cisco Systems, Inc., in 1998. His team also engineered and executed a very successful Telcordia OSS marketing campaign for the launch of a new Telcordia OSS Solution at the Supercomm trade show (June 2001). He is a frequent speaker at industry forums and conferences, including the IEC (International Engineering Consortium), the TMF (TeleManagement Forum), the ICM, and TeleStrategies on a broad range of industry issues. Mr. Effinger joined Telcordia in 1986 and has worked in software development and testing, systems engineering, and strategic planning. He was responsible for defining a new Service Assurance OSS strategy, which included a new workforce dispatch management system ' branded 'The Telcordia Force System' ' which is now one of Telcordia's best selling new operations systems. In 1995, Mr. Effinger established the first solutions architecture group within Telcordia. Prior to joining Telcordia, he spent two years at Wisconsin Bell Telephone (now part of SBC) as a software engineer on several computer mechanization projects, including a calling card fraud detection system. Mr. Effinger earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science & Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1986, and did his graduate work at the University of Southern California, earning a Master of Science degree in Computer Science in 1987.
