DAVID L. LYON is President and Chief Executive Officer of Silicon Wave,
Inc. He has been an active participant in the telecommunications
industry since his MIT cooperative assignments at Bell Labs in the late
1960s. Dr. Lyon has been credited with a number of industry firsts in
such diverse fields as telephone line modems, network control systems
and PCS mobile telephony. Notably, he developed the RF chipsets for
Japan's Personal Handyphone System (PHS) used by a consortium of handset
manufacturers formed by DDI and Kyocera. He was the business group
leader that produced the first successful Ku-band two-way VSAT (very-
small-aperture-satellite earth stations) product line while at M/A-Com
Linkabit in the early 1980s. Dr. Lyon was also a co-Founder and Chief
Executive Officer of Pacific Communication Sciences. Recently he served
as a Board member of Libit Signal Processing, Ltd., until its
acquisition by Texas Instruments. He was also a co-Founder and is
currently a Board Member of Ensemble Communications. Dr. Lyon holds BS,
MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts
Institute of Technology and has also distinguished himself as a teacher
at both MIT and the University of California, San Diego. Profile
