STEPHEN KALDOR is President and Chief Scientific Officer of Syrrx, Inc.,
a privately held structure-based drug discovery company located in San
Diego, California. He joined Syrrx in February 2002 as Chief Scientific
Officer and was promoted to his current role in July 2003. Prior to
joining Syrrx, Dr. Kaldor gained over 12 years of drug discovery and
development experience at Eli Lilly and Company. He is the co-inventor
of multiple compounds that have advanced into the clinic including
ViraceptTM, a marketed HIV protease inhibitor discovered using
structure-based design techniques. Dr. Kaldor was Director of Chemistry
Research Technologies at Lilly from 1998-1999 and from 2000-2002 served
as Lilly's Director of Global Chemical Process Research and Development
where he managed a group of 270 researchers located both in the United
States and Europe supporting activities spanning from late phase lead
optimization through Phase I-III clinical trials. Dr. Kaldor has
authored 30 publications in peer reviewed journals, has delivered more
than 80 invited lectures, and is a co-inventor on 30 issued US patents.
He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Kalypsys and also
serves on the editorial advisory boards of four drug discovery journals.
Dr. Kaldor received a Ph.D. (1989) in Organic Chemistry at Harvard
University and graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Chemistry from
Columbia University in 1984. He is the recipient of numerous honors
including the 1999 PhRMA Discoverer's award for the invention of
