CARL JOHNSON is President and Chief Executive Officer of Matrixx
Initiatives, Inc. He is a highly qualified executive with more
than 20 years' experience in over-the-counter pharmaceuticals and
consumer products. From 1993 to 2001, Mr. Johnson was Vice
President of Commercial Development for Perrigo company, a public
company and leading manufacturer of private label OTC drugs and
nutraceuticals, where he was responsible for the procurement of
new products, technologies and manufacturing services with
emphasis on Abbreviated New Drug Applications. From 1973 to 1989,
Mr. Johnson was employed by Johnson & Johnson where he held a
number of increasingly responsible positions in marketing and
sales, including responsibility for the national launch of the
Acuvue' disposable contact lenses. He also provided marketing
leadership for a special Johnson & Johnson team selected to re-
engineer sales, administration and operational functions. Mr.
Johnson earned a Master's of Business Administration in Marketing
from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a Bachelor of Science in
Economics from Wagner College. Since joining Matrixx in July
2001, Mr. Johnson has spearheaded development and implementation
of the company's long-term growth strategy, including
orchestration of the sale of substantially all of the company's
gum manufacturing assets and business to the Wm. Wrigley Jr.
Company and acquisition of the interest in Gel Tech previously
owned by the company's joint venture partner, Zensano, Inc.,
thereby securing full control of the proprietary Zicam'
