LEWIS GRUBER is a Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ARRYX,
Inc. He was a Founder and CEO of Hyseq, Inc., a publicly-held
biotechnology company, from 1994 through 2000. While CEO of
Hyseq, he raised over $70 million in a series of offerings,
including the largest initial public offering of a biotechnology
company in 1997 (underwritten by Lehman Bros., Salomon Smith
Barney, and Fahnestock & Co. Inc.). He also negotiated
collaborations for Hyseq totaling over $102 million, including a
$60 million collaboration with American Cyanamid Company in
December 1999. Mr. Gruber is a member of the Advisory Board to
the Center for Biotechnology at Northwestern University's Kellogg
Graduate School of Management. He also is a member of the
Illinois Strategic Plan for the Biotechnology Industry, where he
participated as a member of the venture capital team. Mr. Gruber
was a patent attorney with the firm of Marshall, O' Toole,
Gerstein, Murray & Borun in Chicago, Illinois, before he joined
