CHARLES W. SMITH is the Chairman and CEO of Granite State
Bankshares in Keene, New Hampshire since 1986. Mr. Smith was
Executive Vice President of Raritan Savings Bank in Raritan, New
Jersey from 1973-1982. He was formerly a senior bank examiner and
tax specialist with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co. from
1968-1972. Mr. Smith was a Commissioned Officer (Captain) and
Company Commander in the United States Army and was awarded a
Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam. He earned a BSBA in
Accounting/Economics from Widener University and attended the
Graduate School of Banking at Brown University. Mr. Smith is
