Richard Owen – Avantgo Inc (avgo)

RICHARD M. OWEN is CEO of AvantGo, Inc., the leading provider of mobile enterprise software. Mr. Owen has a unique perspective on the mobile and wireless industry, having directed major operations on each of the three continents driving wireless ' namely Asia, Europe and North America. He hails from Liverpool, England, and spent his post-university years with Big Five consulting firm KPMG in London before heading to the States to earn a Master's degree from MIT's Sloan School of Management. Mr. Owen's distinguished career includes an eight-year rise at Dell Computer. There he reengineered the company's supply chain management business before being tapped to head operations for Dell in Japan. After three years in Japan, he returned to the US to build one of world's largest Internet operations, known today as Dell Online. By the time he left to join AvantGo, Dell Online had hit $40 million in revenues per day. At AvantGo, Mr. Owen successfully led the company through an initial public offering in September 2000. With Mr. Owen at the helm, AvantGo is leading the mobile software marketplace, delivering enterprise software to Fortune 1000 customers, such as McKesson Corporation, Ford Motor Company and Cisco, and its AvantGo Mobile Internet Service to more than 6 million mobile users.
