Roger C. Beach – Unocal Corporation (ucl)

ROGER C. BEACH is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer on Unocal Corporation. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, he received a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum refining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 1961. Mr. Beach joined Pure Oil Company following graduation and held various positions in refineries at Lemont, Illinois, and Toledo, Ohio. Following Pure's merger with Union Oil Company of California, Unocal's operating subsidiary, he continued in refining operations, becoming general superintendent of the Beaumont, Texas, refinery in 1972. He participated in the President's Interchange Program in Washington, D.C., in 1975, and then returned to Unocal as manager of special projects. He was named director, refining and marketing planning, in 1977, and Vice President, Crude Supply in 1980. Mr. Beach became President, Unocal Refining and Marking Division, in 1986. He was named a senior Vice President of Unocal in 1987, and was elected to the company's Board of Directors in 1988. He became Unocal's President and Chief Operating Officer in 1992, Chief Executive Officer in 1994 and Chairman in 1995. Mr. Beach is former chairman of the National Petroleum Refiners Association. He is a member of the executive committee and serves as vice chairman of the board of trustees of the National 4- H Council. He was honored with National Partner in 4-H Award in 1992.
