DANIEL E. GEFFKEN is Senior Vice President, Finance, and Chief Financial
Officer of Transkaryotic Therapies, Inc. Mr. Geffken has over 20 years
of financial management experience, including eight years in the
biotechnology/medical industry. Prior to joining TKT in February 1997,
Mr. Geffken was Chief Financial Officer of CytoTherapeutics, Inc. He
also held positions at The Andersen Group, Inc., MedChem Products, Inc.,
and KPMG Peat Marwick. During his tenure in biotechnology, he has raised
more than $600 million in debt and equity financings. Mr. Geffken
received a BS in Economics from The Wharton School, University of
