COSTA PAPASTEPHANOU is President of Ortec International, Inc. Dr.
Papastephanou joined Ortec's executive management group after spending
nearly 30 years at Bristol Myers-Squibb, a multinational pharmaceutical
company. For 14 years, he was with ConvaTec, the $750 million
multinational Ostomy and Wound Care Management division. During his
tenure at ConvaTec, in addition to having held various executive
positions at the Director and Senior Vice President levels, Dr.
Papastephanou was President of the $500 million global Chronic Care
division. In his capacity as President, Dr. Papastephanou had direct
responsibility for the P&L of the United States, Canada, and five major
European markets, including sales and marketing efforts, clinical
performance, and research and development. Dr. Papastephanou was a
member of ConvaTec's Executive Committee, participating in the
development and implementation of strategic initiatives and operating
plans for the global business. In addition, Dr. Papastephanou had direct
responsibility for the global operations of ConvaTec, including
facilities, manufacturing, supply chain management, engineering, quality
assurance, and regulatory affairs. Dr. Papastephanou holds a PhD in
Biochemistry as well as a Master of Science in Microbial Biochemistry. Profile
TWST: Would you give us a brief historical sketch of OrtecInternational, Inc., and a picture of things as they are now?
Dr. Papastephanou: The company was founded about 11 years ago.
