AJAY SHAH is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SMART
Modular Technologies. Shah, was born in 1959 in Kampala, Uganda, holds a
bachelor's degree from the University of Baroda, India in engineering
and a master's degree from Stanford University in engineering
management. Prior to co-founding SMART Modular Technologies in 1988,
Shah was the strategic marketing manager for Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.
While at Samsung, Shah headed and introduced the development of all new
semiconductor memory products. From 1982 to 1987, Shah headed and

From 1982 to 1987, Shah held marketing management and engineering
positions at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). As product marketing manager,
product marketing engineer, process engineer and fabrication supervisor,
Shah was extensively involved in AMD's wafer fabrication and product
