DAVID E. DOVENBERG is the Chairman, President and Chief Executive
Officer, and a Director of Universal Hospital Services, inc., and has
served in both of these positions since the 1998 recapitalization of the
company. He joined the company in 1988 as Vice President, Finance, and
Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining UHS, he had been with The
Prudential Insurance Company of America since 1969. From 1979 to 1988,
Mr. Dovenberg was a regional Vice President in the area of corporate
investments in private placements for Prudential Capital Corporation. He
holds an MA in Economics from the University of Minnesota and is a
member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He is also a
member of the Board of Directors of Lund International Holdings, Inc., a
publicly traded manufacturer of appearance accessories for light trucks,
