ANNE HACKER became CEO of Metris Therapeutics in January 1999 having
previously been Non-Executive Chairman since April 1997. Between 1974
and 1989 she held senior marketing and general management positions with
Searle Laboratories, Lilly Industries and Glaxo Pharmaceuticals, where
she was appointed to the Board in 1987. From 1989 to 1993 she was Chief
Executive of Biocompatibles International, a venture-backed biomaterials
company. Whilst at Biocompatibles Ms. Hacker was responsible for
developing the early strategic direction of the company, and also for
leading several rounds of financing. The company achieved a listing on
the London Stock Exchange in 1994. Until the end of 1998, she was Chief
Executive of Deltex Medical Ltd. a company which develops and
manufactures electronic patient monitoring equipment and which was
listed on EASDAQ in 2000. Ms. Hacker has a BSc from Birmingham
University. In addition to her role at Metris, she is also on the Boards
of two other healthcare companies, Oncoprobe Ltd. and Profile
Therapeutics Profile
