Richard Palmer – Alizyme Plc (azm.l)

RICHARD PALMER joined Alizyme Plc as Chief Operating Officer in September 1996. In March 1997 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer while retaining responsibility for the company's portfolio as Director of R&D. Dr Palmer has held various positions in research and development management in Wellcome and Glaxo Wellcome. He spent approximately 20 years in research in Wellcome, establishing an international reputation for his work. He has published over 100 research papers and is in the top 10 cited biomedical scientists in the UK from his work on the discovery and role of nitric oxide in physiology and pathophysiology. In 1992, he moved into development management, becoming responsible for Wellcome's portfolio of biotechnology projects, before becoming Director of International Oncology Planning in Glaxo Wellcome in 1995. Dr Palmer obtained his BSc in Applied Biology from the University of Bath and a PhD in Pharmacology from University College, London. Profile
