WILLIAM V. FRIES is Portfolio Manager and Managing Director of Thornburg
Investment Management Inc., and the Thornburg Value and Thornburg Global
Value Funds. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Vice President of USAA
Investment Management Company. His 21 years of experience at USAA
included managing USAA Growth Fund, USAA Aggressive Growth Fund, USAA
Income Stock Fund and sectors of USAA Cornerstone Fund. In addition to
being responsible for the overall investment strategy and performance of
these funds, Mr. Fries also served as an Investment Advisor to the
company's employee benefits plan and managed USAA's insurance company
equity portfolios. Mr. Fries earned a BSBA from Pennsylvania State
University and an MBA in Finance from Temple University. He is a
