R.BUCK / G.FURUKAWA / G.SMART – FREESTONE CAPITAL MANAGEMENT

RANDALL BUCK, Director of Quantitative Research at Freestone Capital Management, brings a wealth of senior level investment management expertise to the firm. He recently served as Chief Investment Officer for Chicago Analytic Capital Management, a firm serving the investment needs of some of the wealthiest families in the Midwest. He has also run his own specialized investment firm and served as a Senior Portfolio Manager for the Chicago Corporation and Harris Investment Management. Over the course of his career, he has developed specialized expertise in the area of quantitative research. Mr. Buck is a Chartered Financial Analyst, has a BA (honors) in Business and Economics from Simon Fraser University and an MBA with a specialization in finance and statistics from the University of Chicago. In his spare time he enjoys skiing, hiking and sailing with his wife and four children. Profile
GARY SMART, Director of Portfolio Management at Freestone capital Management, began his investment career in 1989 as a research analyst and portfolio manager at First Interstate Bank (now Wells Fargo). There he helped manage the bank's trust and mutual funds and provided management services to high net worth clients. He joined Salomon Smith Barney to assist Gary Furukawa in managing his rapidly growing investment management business, and joined Mr. Furukawa again as a co- founder of Freestone Capital Management. Mr. Smart is a Chartered Financial Analyst and has an MBA in Finance from the University of Washington and a BA in Economics from Brigham Young University. He spends his spare time with his wife and five children and is actively involved in coaching youth sports and is a varsity team coach in the Boy Scouts of America. Profile
GARY FURUKAWA, President and Chief Investment Officer of Freestone Capital Management, brings two decades of experience in financial advice and planning. Before co-founding Freestone, he worked for 11 years at Salomon Smith Barney as one of their top financial consultants nationwide, managing assets of more than $500 million. As a Certified Public Accountant, and having worked for the Internal Revenue Service and Deloitte & Touche as a tax specialist, Mr. Furukawa brings insight not typically found in portfolio managers. A Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude graduate of the University of Washington, he devotes his leisure time to his family and a variety of outdoor activities, particularly his passion, fly-fishing.
