M.gerard Sandel – Heartland Advisors

M. Gerard Sandel, Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Heartland Advisors, joined the firm as Senior Vice President in August 1999, bringing with him a career-long commitment to value investing. He is the lead Portfolio Manager for the Heartland Select Value Fund and is also responsible for researching small, medium and larger capitalization companies that meet Heartland's investment criteria. Prior to joining Heartland Advisors, Mr. Sandel managed the Stein Roe Special Fund from July 1997 through May 1999 and the Marshall Mid-Cap Value Fund from October 1993 through July 1997. He also was the Director of Equity Research for Acorn Asset Management, a Vice President with Abraham Sons Asset Management and a Research Analyst with Bear Stearns Asia in Hong Kong. He received an MIM degree in International Business-Finance from the American Graduate School of International Management and a BS in Biology from the University of Southern Mississippi. Profile
