John Stannard – Fuel Cell Technologies Corporation (fct:tsx.v)

JOHN H. STANNARD is Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fuel Cell Technologies Corporation. Dr. Stannard holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University and is a Professional Engineer in Ontario. He has over 28 years' experience in the design, development and testing of a variety of advanced technology systems. These include aluminum-power sources for undersea vehicles, aluminum-air batteries for electric vehicles, a hydrogen powered passenger bus, and climatic test facilities. He led the design team within Alcan International Ltd. that was the first worldwide to develop, manufacture, and successfully test an aluminum oxygen fuel cell power system for unmanned, underwater vehicles (UUVs). In 1994, Dr. Stannard and eight colleagues opened Fuel Cell Technologies Ltd. Fuel Cell designed and built custom aluminum energy fuel cell products for a variety of clients and was profitable in four of its five fiscal years through 1999. To develop product for a wider market, Fuel Cell then initiated design of an appliance that would generate on site electricity and heat for residences and remote locations. A corporate reorganization completed in May 2000 brought Fuel Cell Technologies Ltd. to the public markets as a subsidiary of the publicly traded Fuel Cell Technologies Corporation or FCT. FCT first tested prototype SOFCs in 2002 and has successful demonstration installations in 2003. Profile
