John S. Gates Jr. – Centerpoint Properties (cnt)

John S. Gates, Jr. (45) - has been President and Chief Executive Officer of CenterPoint Properties Trust since it's formation in 1984. CenterPoint Properties was the first major Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) to focus on adding value to warehouse/industrial properties and has grown to a current total market capitalization in excess of $1.1 billion. Today it is the largest owner, developer and manager of industrial property in the 1.2 billion square foot Chicago Regional Market North America's largest and most diverse. Mr. Gates began his career in 1976, as an Assistant and Legislative Liaison for Governor James R. Thompson of Illinois. In 1978, he joined CB Commercial, and in 1981, co-founded the Chicago office of Jones Lang Wootton, a global commercial property investment firm. Mr. Gates graduated from Trinity College and the Groton School. Recently he has been nominated to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) and has served on the Board of Chicago Dock and Canal Trust.
